Tag You're It!

We played a round of card tag and a tag tag at Scrap Shotz and this is what I came up with.

Those penguins are just too cute along with the SC stars!

I have had this embossed paper for soooo long it was great to use it along with my embossing gun for this glitter embossed image.

Every Day Life...

I have always enjoyed taking photos of the events around our home in our day-to-day lives so I often have a bunch of photos that are not "event" based.
This is one of my favorite kind of layouts capturing a period of time in the life of our family, ordinary yes, but unique to us.

Happy World Cardmaking Day & Scrap Shotz Fave of the Week

I wasn't sure I would have any time for crafting today as I was hosting my side of the family for Canadian Thanksgiving but the guests came early and left early.
So I combined my Scrap Shotz Fave of the Week*Lift* with WCMD and created a card based on a layout I love by one of our Scrap Shotz members.

This is the card I created:
You can see the layout I was inspired by here http://forum.scrapshotz.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=37904 .

Minecraft

Have you heard of this game? It's a computer game that seems to be very addictive. I don't really understand the attraction as the graphics seem "old school" to me but in a nutshell you build stuff with blocks, anything your imagination comes up with. You just have to build your shelter before the monsters come out at night time.
The boys can spend hours playing this, one in particular would stay online all day if he could get away with it. Thank goodness for school and baseball to take up some of his time :) .

This is the first of what I am sure will be many layout topics about the game.

I cut the American Crafts "Chap" paper into squares to mimic the squares used for building in the game. The kids spent a lot of time playing the game while we were away in Arizona for Christmas last year. It's hard to tell but my son is Facetiming his friend on his iPod back home and they are playing the game together.

One More Month!

I am fortunate to have the opportunity to create Creative Team projects for Scrap Shotz for another month as my CT term was extended by one month! I am looking forward to working with the Simple Stories new Harvest Lane line which will be featured in the Scrap Shotz October kit.
Here are a couple of my latest projects.

"Look Alikes"
All supplies are from the sold out September Scrap Shotz kit with the addition of a couple of add ons and Mr.Huey's mist.
"Future Slugger"
This layout features the Fancy Pants "Little Sports" line. I punched the stars with a Marvy punch and painted them with Triple Thick Gloss Glaze. The stitching was done with the help of the Sew Easy :).

Add ons go up for the October Scrap Shotz Monthly kit tomorrow evening, 6pm MT here.

A Layout Tag...

We play layout tag every month at Scrap Shotz and it is lots of fun!
I was tagged by my fellow Creative Team member Jamie and this is what her lovely layout inspired:

"1rst Research Project"
patterned paper-Studio Calico "Elementary; hexagon stickers-Jenni Bowlin; alphas-Prima & MME; blossoms-Prima;brads-AC; bling-Imaginisce

My daughter was so proud of her first research project on the platypus in 2010. I love how this turned out and it came together very quickly. I finished this in a few hours instead of a few days :).
You can see all of the participants layouts here and it is not too late to join our September layout tag here.

12x12 Scrapbook Projects

A few random 12x12 projects, hope you enjoy them!

This was made from a Studio Calico kit but I can not remember which  one for the life of me.
Lots of American Crafts "Chap" on this one along with Jenni Bowlin Stickers and Crate Paper stickers. I also used the Sew Easy and an EK Success border punch.
Another school layout using a Studio Calico kit-don't recall the name of it but the blue chevron paper is Kesai Art if that helps.
Lastly I have this fun layout using Heidi Swapp Colour Magic and No Limits products(all obtained from Scrap Shotz) along with a bit of Glimmer Mist. I cut an HS memory file in half to serve as a photo mat on the HS colour magic base cardstock. Love how this turned out!

Feel free to let me know what you think!

ScrapShotz September 2012 CT Reveal

I had the pleasure of working with the fabulous My Mind's Eye line "the sweetest thing" which is the Scrap Shotz September 2012 monthly kit (photo not available yet but addons are here).
The papers are fun and super versatile but my favorite item is the stamps!
Here are my projects using this fabulous kit!

The rosettes are made with the Tim Holtz min rosettes die out of the Studio Calico Fabrip included in the kit. I left the backing on this when I cut and folded it which makes keeps the fabric firm like cardstock so it was easy to fold and put together. The journaling block is accented with two strips of fabric folded over like ribbon.

This layout describes my daughter's desire for a pet. The strips along the right side are cut from one piece of paper "Playful" Lively which is chock full of border strips. Love those woodgrain Amy Tangerine{Muse}Thickers.
This layout is inspired our CT sketch created by the fabulous Jess Duerkson. I had lots of fun with the hand stitching but I'm annoyed with myself for not stamping the arrows towards the center of the layout. I used the kit stamp and stamped with grey Staz On ink which I covered with embossing powder and heat embossed. I freehanded the stitching around the circles.
I used the stamp included with the kit to stamp this image. It is inked with Tim Holtz distress markers on watercolor paper. The image is then misted with water. Love how it turned out!
Many great chipboard pieces included in this kit. I made one of them the sentiment on this card and punched the border with a Martha Stewart border punch.
Many great patterns make for a wonderful pieced card background. I cut these squares 1 & 1/2" x 1x1/2" and anchored them in the center with an epoxy dot. Simple, yet lovely!
I had a great time mixing these patterns on this layout and they go so well together being from the same manufacturer! I really like those word stickers, I used two different sets for this journaling/title along with the kit stamp!
This is a simple layout with just a few pieces of patterned paper. The star is the photos of course and that great layered sticker that serves as the title as well "Best Day".
Lastly is this card that is also my Scrap Shotz Design Team Monthly Challenge "keep it simple stupid". I've used three items only; epoxy dot, die cut & cardstock. You can see all our September Design Team challenges here.

Card Creations

I wanted to share some cards I created a couple of weeks ago in an effort to use up some scrapping supplies. I love how these turned out and while I've never considered myself a "card maker", I have been enjoying whipping up cards. It feels good to put all those supplies I've collected to good use!

I love this card especially because the papers are Heidi Swapp "No Limits" which is NOT a Christmas line of papers :) (sentiment making memories rub on)
Patterned papers are American Crafts "Chap", sentiment stamps, Stampin' Up.

Scrap Shotz Summer Kit *Authentique* Pt.2

In my last post I shared the layouts I created with the fabulous SSZ Summer Kit. Today I have the cards I created!
Now I do not consider myself a card maker but as a Creative Team member I like to challenge myself to create a few for each kit reveal and this kit has one sheet of paper that begs to be cut and turned into cards!

This card front is cut directly from one of the kit patterned papers. I used the Easy Bow maker to make this fabulous bow!

This next card features one of the stickers as the sentiment.
On this card I misted the cardstock base with the Studio Calico mask included in the kit, fussy kit on of the patterned papers and attached a MME brad as a the card sentiment.
This card features the kit patterned papers and the washi tape as well. The banner flag is a sticker also included in the kit.
This is a super simple card featuring the washi tape along with one of the blossoms included in the kit as well.
This final card showcases that patterned paper I started out with. Another easy to create card!
So there you have my card creations from the Scrap Shotz Summer Kit and if me, a non-card maker, can make fabulous cards like these; imagine what a card making guru can do with this kit!
