Embrace the White Space-Layout

So what do you do when you have some fabulous photos with lots of vibrant colour in them?
I suppose you could convert them to black and white to make them easier to work with or utilize lots of white space with little bits of colour so the photos pop.

I let the photos be the main source of colour on this layout using just a couple of strips of Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic paper and Sugar Chic banner strips. I've added some punched Martha Stewart butterflies along with Want2Scrap gems and pearls. The title alphas are DIY Thickers topped with AC Wow! extra fine glitter. It's a bit hard to the see but I've stamped the date with a Dear Lizzy roller stamp. A bit of hand journaling finishes it off!

Thanks for looking :)

Scrap Shotz June Layout Tag

So we just completed another round of layout tag at Scrap Shotz. I really enjoy layout tag, each participant is sent a layout from the participant before them and you create a inspired by that. We sometimes through in a twist like incorporating one of the monthly Creative Team challenges.

I've had these photos out for awhile, wanting to use them and this tag was the perfect opportunity!
This is the layout mine was inspired by-a lovely layout by Jennifer one of my fabulous Creative Team - mates at Scrap Shotz:

Here's my layout for the tag this month:
The die cut paper is Fancy Pants which I trimmed to fit the 12x12 cardstock better. The printed circles, stars and arrows on the paper are easy embellies. I stamped the words with Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday stamps "Kids are Cool". The chipboard star is from Bazill and the chipboard frame and die cut are Maya Road. I misted the chipboard with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and the star is topped with Rock Candy Stickles. The last additions are brads from American Crafts and Making Memories? I'm actually not sure who makes them and a black pearl "Want 2 Scrap".

Project Life 2012...Catching Up

Hello! I realized after looking at my last PL post I completely forgot to post week 16 so here it is:
I was in a more creative mood this week and misted the patterned paper in the top left corner and stamped directly on the photo that says "laugh out loud". I also added a piece of Chatterbox chipboard and used a piece of Basic Grey paper as the journaling block.
As I mentioned in my last post, I'm still waiting for my week 17 & 18 photos to be printed from the online photo printing service I uploaded them to and I will have to give them a call tomorrow as it's taken been weeks since I sent them in. I'll add those weeks in once I receive the photos so I've continued on and here is week 19:
I journaled directly on a couple of photos this week and I really liked taking advantage of "white space" on the photos to get the best of both worlds, photos and words.

Week 20
I've added an 8x10 page protector with DS#3's artwork along with the "original" canvas tag.
A good look at the little guy's artwork and the full week's photos.
Week 21
More journaling on the photos and a couple of special thank you cards. This week I used and American Craft 6x12 page protector in addition to the Becky Higgens Project Life design A page protector.

So I'm kind of caught up, have to print week 22 and week 23 is just about completed so maybe I can get them both finished this weekend??? We'll see!!!

Thanks for looking :)

Project Life 2012

I haven't posted any Project Life layouts here for awhile but I have been {loosley} keeping up with them.
Here are weeks 14 and 15:

I wanted to take advantage of the a Black's photo printining sale and am still waiting for the photos I uploaded for printing for weeks 17 & 18. Will post those weeks once the photos arrive and I create the PL pages.

Thanks for taking a look at week 14 and 15, stay tune for week 19+...

Scrap Shotz June Kit Reveal

The wonderfully creative Creative Team at Scrap Shotz has unveiled our latest projects for the June kit.
This kit features the fabulous Bo Bunny "Hello Sunshine" line. Our special CT assignment this month was creating something fabulous with the Pink Paislee Wood Shop alphas (this is one of 3 fonts in stock). I chose to mist my alphas as the kit includes a fabulous vibrant turquoise Dylusions ink spray.

Here are my projects for this month:
I used a bunch of the Noteworthy die cuts on this one. The title is an Ali Edwards stamp which I stamped in black ink, then painted the Dylusions ink over top and finished off with Rock Candy Stickles.
This one was based on a sketch I saw on the Studio Calico blog and the large alphas are the Pink Paislee kit alphas misted with the Dylusions ink spray also including in the kit.
My cards this month are very simple, I used my Fiskars anywhere punch on this one. The MME brad serves as the sentiment and I've backed it with a sticker which I've popped up with foam squares.
The sentiment is a kit rub on which I've mounted on one of kit stickers and then backed with a paper pieced circle. The jewels are also included with the kit.
This is my April Project 12 layout based on the Scrapshotz Project 12 of 2012 sketch. I used those wonderful alphas and the wood hearts that were also included with the alphas.
I did some handstitching on this one along with fussy cutting the inside of the honeycomb paper to create a frame.
Another card where I let the brad be the sentiment. The die cut is a Noteworthy die cut I cut in half.
This layout is my interpretation of our CT sketch. I used my brand new Mr.Huey's Shine and I love the glimmer in that product!
Check out all the CT projects in the Scrap Shotz gallery (click on link).

Thanks for taking a look!
