December Daily - Catching Up

I was so excited to get my photos for days 9 to 19 and have finished those pages and will be posting shortly. The rest will have to wait until we get back home from vacation and after my design team work for Scrapshotz. I will be a madly scrapping woman as I will only have a couple of days to create projects for the reveal on January 2, 2012 but I will enjoy the time in my scraproom since I haven't done very much while on vacation.

Here's day 9 of December Daily, all about travelling:

The full 2 page spread.

The journal insert, a Fancy Pants journaling page.

The right side of the layout. I added some elements to the back of the journal card so it wouldn't be so boring and I love how it turned out!

Thanks for looking, more to come!

December Daily - Day 8

Finally a post!! I finished this a few days ago, just getting at posting it now ;) . This one is all about my Christmas decor, or lack thereof.

My favorite part of this is the glitter cardstock, love this stuff! It's by Best Creations and the glitter doesn't come off. at all.
I didn't mind not getting out all the decorations this year, means I don't have to pack them up so no extra work!
I've finally sent my photos from Day 9 to Day 15 to print so hopefully they will be done in time for me to put them in my book before we head back home.

Thanks for looking!

On Vacation!

We arrived in Phoenix, Arizona 5 minutes earlier than our 1:30 arrival but by the time we got the car seat out of the baggage carousel (the tether strap got stuck in the conveyor), boarded the car rental shuttle, picked up the car and drove to the rental house it was 3:30pm. We left our home at 8:15am, so after a grocery shopping trip for dinner, finding out the bbq was out of propane so no burgers for dinner and on to plan B of tortillas with cheese and veggies for supper we finally finished dinner at 7pm. No DD-Day 8 for me today, will get it done tomorrow after I sleep in and maybe have a nap later too ;)

December Daily - Day 7

Today is about lists; for me specifically my "to-do" list before leaving on vacation on tomorrow. I'm pleased to say I have just about completed every item on it. The interesting thing is nothing on it relates to Christmas at all! Funny how being away over Christmas takes the focus off of anything Christmassy.

I used Smash tape for a bit of an accent and the list on the right is my actual list so this page isn't in my book yet, I still have items to be crossed off it ;) .

December Daily - Day Six

Day Six is all about helping others. We had a great time at Samaritan's Purse processing shoeboxes. I took photos with my camera phone and my favorite photo is the one of the map. It's hard to see in the photo but the map is tagged with the countries the shoeboxes will be heading to. Argentina, Venezeula, Guatamala, Senegal, Ivory Coast are just some of the countries Samaritan's Purse will be distributing shoeboxes in.
Nothing puts me in the Christmas mood more than doing something for others. Here is the two page spread.

I printed out the Samaritan's Purse banner from the internet. Here is the right side page with all the journaling.

I sprayed the joy and love words with Mr.Huey's Holly Berry spray and covered the holes in them with a Bo Bunny pearl (they were from a set of Christmas words strung together on a chain).

Day Five

Day Five was without photos, I was very busy doing a bunch of different things so I went with the Journal Your Christmas prompt for the day which was to write about counting down to Christmas specifically Advent Calendars. One suggestion in lieu of advent calendars was to document 25 things you've done this day and that's what I chose to do.

I typed out 25 of the tasks I completed today, as you all know as soon as you start writing down EVERYTHING you've done that day you are aware of how much you actually do, there was far more than 25 items ;) . I left space between the tasks and each line to trim each down to size and mat on patterned paper that I added Tim Holtz distress ink in Festive Berries. The left side page has been inked with Tim Holtz Evergreen Bough distress ink. I added the numbers from unused sticker numbers in my stash, Jenni Bowlin, Prima and Making Memories numbers; had to use a few "i"'s as I was out of one's very quickly. Then I added a leftover strip of ribbon with the numbers along the side of the right page.

That's it for day five, thanks for looking!

DD| Day 4

Day four was a fun day with a family Christmas lunch with Grandma and Grandpa and Jeff, Kendra and their family as we will be away for Christmas. Mom cooked lunch and we all enjoyed a great family time together. While I know we will enjoy our vacation, it does make it the holiday season different. I didn't do any decorating, we won't be attending Christmas parties or open houses. I will miss those things a little but the family memories we'll be creating will more than make up for that, and, in all honesty, I am thrilled that I won't have to pack up any decorations this year-WooHoo!!!! Here's my day 4 spread :)

Day 3 December Daily

I was out of the house first thing this morning for a Little League meeting and I had intended to document how December is a "planning" month today but I will leave that for later as I came home and tackled my Christmas cards which took 3 hours to address. You are probably wondering if I am just that slow in writing but in my defense I was chasing small children  around in addition to working on the cards.  In spite of distractions I have all 40 cards signed with family photos inside the card and envelopes and sorted to mail outside of Canada and within Canada. This was the focus of my Day 3 December Daily/JYC entry:

this is the left side page of the day 3 layout
the right hand side of page and transparancy on the top side

the right hand side of the day 3 spread.

DD - Day 2

The Journal Your Christmas prompt today was the weather in your area and it was really fitting for me since I didn't really have anything else to talk about out ;) . I would have found something but the prompt made it so much simpler. Here is day 2:

Printed off the weather from the internet for today. I used a Fancy Pants journal card from a previous Scrapshotz kit for my journaling and hole punched it to add it directly to the layout.

December Daily - Day One

Had a great time putting together day one of my December Daily. I wasn't too sure what I would focus on today and had intended to talk about how "ordinary" December begins with school for the kids, etc. Then I received a phone call that my daughter had been hurt (not seriously) at school and wanted to be picked up so there was my story fo the day. Here's what it looks like:

I added this pocket page which is a baseball card protector cut down and hole punched to fit. I shamelessly copied Ali's idea of putting decorative elements into the pockets; I used sequins, gems, pearls and stapled the pocket closed. I included two photos and a couple of patterned papers in the pockets as well.

This photo is both sides of day one and this next photo is the day one photo and story :)

So day one is in the books, we'll see what tomorrow brings :)

Thanks for taking a look!

December Daily Begins

It's December 1rst and so begins the third installment of December Daily for me. I'm super excited as I have also signed up for Journal Your Christmas and I think it will be a good fit for DD and for me!

As I type this I am working on my Day One pages and I will post them tomorrow. In the mean time, I'd like to share the cover of journal and how I used the JYC printables from Shimelle Laine.

I loooooooooved Ali's embossed cover so I wanted to try something similar. I did not prime this Bazzil 8x8 chipboard album, just sprayed Maya Road red mist and topped with Mr.Huey's Holly Berry. I then applied embossing ink over a Pink Paislee Misting Mask, sprinkled with white embossing powder, added heat and voila! I glued some glitter ribbon along the edge, the embossed area is the width of the misting mask. To keep the glitter from flaking all over the place I applied Triple Thick brush on Gloss Glaze. It's very similar to Glossy Accents but cheaper ;). I finished it off with Thickers for the title and MM glittered numbers for the year.

I incorporated Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas flashcard and manifesto inside the front cover of my album and added this glittered ticket.

I love how the cover and the start of my book have turned out; back tomorrow with Day One!

Sketchy Thursday 11.17

I've filed away this sketch for future use, it's fantastic! Went through my stash and chose some Bo Bunny. It took more time waiting for the mist and glimmer glaze to dry than putting the layout together ;)

Project 12-October

I spent last weekend getting caught up on Project 12 and completed not only October but September as well.
Lets start with October's layout; first the sketch:

Here's my layout:
I dug into my stash for this one and used a lot of items I've had for over a year. Patterned paper is Crate Paper, Lily Bee and I don't know who makes the brown with white swirls paper. The blossoms are Sassafras Lass and I think the ribbon is May Arts. Butterflies and alphas are Jenni Bowlin.
Here are a couple of close ups:

Since I didn't have the right size of photos, I trimmed two photos to the same size of the larger photos in the sketch (3"x 6.25") otherwise I stuck very closely to the sketch.

Here's my September layout which I absolutely LOVE, I'll use this sketch again for sure :) .

Sketchy Thursday 11.10

Well I didn't think I'd be able to get to this sketch this week but thanks to such a great sketch I was able to knock this out fairly quickly.

I've used good old kraft cardstock for the base and layered some Cosmo Cricket circa 1934 patterned paper and stickers. The die cut sticker is topped off with an American Crafts badge I've had stuck to my desk lamp for over a year{insert embarassed expression here ;)}. The title is a KI Memories Scribble sticker.

Reindeer Christmas Cards

As I was going through my Christmas stash, I came across 3 Christmas card kits I purchased at Scrapshotz last year but didn't use. I had lots of fun with this one especially the cute reindeer stamp!

Just click on the slideshow to view, just trying to speed up the viewing process :)

This years card kits at Scrapshotz are all sold out but there is lots of inspiration in the gallery from this past weekends mini Christmas card crop. You can also view all the challenges here .
I'll have more cards to share in a couple of days!

What's Next

Now that I've finished my December Daily foundation pages I'm wondering what to do next! I got all my Christmas cards done so I think I will try to make a dent in my stash! Have to pick up those 100+ photos I sent to the printers first ;)
In the mean time, here are a few Christmas cards I've created recently:

These two were made using packing tape and glitter! This last one was made for this challenge :
Feel free to join us at Scrapshotz to play along; I'll have some more cards to share in the next few days!
Thanks for dropping by :)

December Daily 2011-foundation pages

I have completed my December Daily foundation pages, yay!!! I don't think they will change much. After looking at my 2010 version of DD I want to include some christmas cards like I did last year so there will be a few additions to my foundation pages.
I really liked Ali's cut down baseball card pages and may include a few of those but not many 'cause I am too lazy to cut down papers and photos, gotta keep it easy for me to finish the project :).
We will also be celebrating the season in Scottsdale, Arizona from the 9th to the 30th of December so I won't have access to my stash and am optimistically hoping to come home with pages with photos on them :) and journaling completed on my computer.

For this years DD I was really inspired by Ali Edwards use of transparancies. I used one in between each spread and instead of stitching ribbon, I stitched paper to the transparancies. I also used Ali Edwards overlays to give my project a common theme, I just chose a darker red for the overlay printing.
To summarize, I am very happy with the pages, I don't have an album yet, haven't found the 8x8 book I really like yet so I will look around for one when we are in the States in December and if I don't find something I like, I will bind it myself.
Here are my foundation pages:
