Game One of All-Star Season

I am so proud of my boy Blake, he was the starting second baseman for the first All-Star game of the season. Here he is on the field:

Here he is at bat, he struck out on his only at bat.

Blake's team lost 8-3. Jack's team also played tonight. I did not take pictures of Jack's first game but he was the starting pitcher. His team won 37-0 and Jack gave up one hit and no runs in two innings pitched. No games tomorrow, a practice for each kid and then game on Thursday for Jack and Saturday for Blake. The boys also have their last day of baseball camp tomorrow, so their has been ALOT of baseball these last few days. A break is in order and I still have a scrapbook lo on the go that needs completing tomorrow. Hopefully I will have time to get it done and posted.

Summer Camp...

The boys began their summer baseball camp today. It is a 3 day camp offered by Triple Play Academy. The boys had a great time! They have done this camp before and really enjoyed it! It looked like the weather would not cooperate but it turned out to be a lovely day, Blake said they had a little bit of rain but otherwise is was a perfect day.

After dropping off the boys at Confederation Park, the day went very quickly. Myself, Peyton and Cole came back home and I exercised, showered, made lunch or rather breakfast for myself and lunch for the kids, did more laundry, changed a poopy diaper, had a cat nap on the couch and then picked up Blake and Jack from camp. Home for a quick bit of relaxation and dinner and then in the van to drop Jack off for his practice, play with Cole in the playground and then take Blake to his practice and wait for him. What have we gotten ourselves into with two all-stars? Very busy, but LOTS of fun!

The kids have had some time to relax at home and here are a few pictures of them re-discovering some fun toys. I have been very stingy with the video game/iPod time so they have had to find other sources of amusement.

"Hey mom, we found our Bionicles!"
Littlest Pet Shop fun.
Polly Pocket time...

The Bowridge AAA Majors All-Star team plays their first game against NW tomorrow evening, the Minors AAA All-Star team also plays their first game against Foothills tomorrow evening. Good luck my wonderful boys!

Well the day began early, for a Saturday, for Ray and Jack as Jack had a baseball game in Airdre at 8:30am. Unfortunately the game did not go well and the team ended the game early as the "mercy" rule took effect. This means the team was losing by 10 runs or more by the end of the fourth inning. They were home by 11:15am so Jack had lots of time at home before his next game 6:30pm.

We took Cole for a bike ride and then I took Blake to baseball practice. It was a long practice and Coach Baumer told me he could teach me to hit in 5 minutes, so he told me the basics, I practiced my swing and then he pitched to me in the batting cage! It was fun, but TIRING! I was sweating and tired after 10 pitches and my hands still hurt!

After a quick dinner we convinced Blake to babysit so both Ray and I could watch Jack's game and I am glad we both went. Jack and his team played great! They hit real well and were on the winning side of the "mercy" rule. Jack went 4 for 4 at the plate and scored 3 runs. Great job Bowridge! The team will probably begin league play on Tuesday which just happens to be the same day that Blake's team plays!

This blog will be all about baseball for this month but that's because it is a huge part of our lives right now!

Tomorrow is a day off for Jack and practice for Blake. We are going to stay home from church and have a family God time at home. I am feeling so blessed right now!

I will be participating in a Summer Trash Your Stash challenge at Scrapshotz beginning July 1. I have set a goal to complete 50 scrapbooking/card projects before September 1, 2010. I'll update how it's going periodically!

It is hard to keep track of the days when there is a holiday during the week. I keep thinking it is Saturday or Sunday but it is Friday today. Friday brought us the second game in the All-Star tournament for Jack. The game appeared destined for a 4th inning mercy but Bowridge scored four runs to keep the game going and after a fantastic hot box run down for the third out, the team rallied to score another four but were unable to catch up resulting in a 14-8 loss to Fish Creek. They'll play two more games tomorrow starting at 9:30am and then 6:30pm.

Blake agreed to stay home and babysit Cole and Peyton and he did an outstanding job as usual. Once we came back, I rushed out to the grocery store to buy food for a meal for our friends whose nine year old boy suffered a broken arm, leg and head injury one week ago. He is home now and healing well, but relegated to a wheelchair so Blake came along to chat and play video games with him. A mutual friend, Lori, also sent along a meal so they are set for the weekend. So glad to be able to help out in any way!!

Here is a photo I took yesterday of DS and DH before the baseball game:

Oh that little boy has the life! I love both these guys!

Happy Canada Day!

It is July 1st, Canada Day and the first day of Jack's baseball team, Bowridge, AAA Minors All Star tournament. We began the day with our sleepover guest, Ian, a good friend of the boys. The kids had a lots of fun playing Super Mario Wii while I squeezed in a workout and refereed at the same time. Then it was a pancake breakfast and playing outside for the kids, myself going through the shower and tidying up before Vangie arrived to give the house a thorough clean, making lunch, cleaning up from lunch and picking up my Scrapshotz order before heading out to Airdre for the baseball game.

I was a proud Mama when Jack took the mound as the starting pitcher for the first game of the tourney. He did a fantastic job giving up only three runs and striking out at least 4 batters. Bowridge won 26-3, or close to that, I am not sure of the final score. Jack also hit a double at his first at bat and scored a couple of runs at least. Very proud of my boy. Here are a few pics of him in action:

Ray has taken the three older kids to the Stampeders game which will be followed by fireworks for Canada Day so it will be a late night for them. We hope to hit the library tomorrow before Jack's next baseball game. Go Bowridge Go!!

Here is my latest scrapbook lo and since I am staying home with the little guy maybe I will at least get another layout started!

I used Fancy Pants papers, Bazzil cardstock and Thickers alphas for this lo. It is hard to see in this photo but I paper pierced around the outside circle and corner rounded the edges of the paper.

Sunny Day

It was another beautiful day here in Calgary, the third in a row, so it really feels like summer now! The kids are off school as well. I've been looking forward to school being finished but this first week has been very busy with Blake and Jack playing all-star baseball. Two practices at two different places and we are looking at four games in the next 3 days for Jack. Busy but fun! July will certainly be packed with baseball.

On another note, we got to see Nolan at home today! He was released much sooner than anticipated but so great for him to be in his own home. We'll keep praying for healing. We are really looking forward to helping Peter and Michele out and also grateful that Nolan is alive and on the way to being well!

I am so missing scrapping as I have not done any for almost two weeks now and it's not looking like much if any will happen any time soon although that hasn't stopped me from adding to my stash. There is a great sale going on at www.scrapshotz.com right now so check it out!

Be back sometime this weekend with some baseball scores! Go Bowridge Go!

Weddings, Baseball & Misc

Has it been 3 days since my last post? Wow time flies! We were at a wedding Saturday and then spent Father's Day at the ball diamond. Here are some pictures of Joel and his bride Ashley:

The Happy Couple
Groom's Uncle, Mom and Uncle

We had a lovely time! Best wishes for a happy future Joel and Ashley!

While we were at the wedding my sister was looking after the kids and brought her new dog, a 4 pound chihuahua named Chico.

Yes the dog is walking on his 2 front legs! He was born with a birth defect in one of his back legs and walks on his 2 front legs the majority of the time. He was rescued from Tijuana.

On the baseball front,

the boys team is out of the playoffs, Blake had a brutal game and he was very disappointed in himself. It's the only bad game he's had out of 20 games played this year. Poor guy was in tears but the whole team played poorly so the loss wasn't any one persons fault. On to other things now.  Both boys are trying out for the All-Star team in their respective age groups. Jack will be playing AAA Minors All-Stars. As he played last year he is on the team as a returning player. Blake is trying out for the Majors A/AA All- Star team (11/12 yr.olds). If he makes it we will have an exceptionally busy July but Ray and I are okay with that. Blake making the all-star team would lift his confidence and self-esteem astronomically!! He has practices Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The team will be selected on Monday. Good luck Blake!

The other day Blake asked to play games on his iPod touch and set up Cole to play my iPod touch.
So cute seeing them both playing, even though I'm sure Cole has no idea what he's doing. Yes I admit I'm crazy allowing a 2 year old to play an iPod touch.

This is the kids last week of school so all their workbooks, duo-tangs and projects are coming home. Here is Peyton with here first big research project:

Their last day will be Thursday and then they will spend the weekend with Grandma D. while Ray and I are in Kelowna.

Phew! What a long post but now we're all caught up. I'll have at least one scrapbook project to share tomorrow!

Hello Sunshine!!!

What a beautiful day here today! The temp got up to 26C at one point, according to my van anyways, and now I am sporting a slight sunburn! Love it! This spring has been so cold and rainy to date. I hope we now have summer!

Hubby and I were at a wedding in Canmore yesterday and it was fabulous! So great seeing our nephew Joel marry his beloved, Ashley. It was a great wedding and so great to see Joel starting a new life. Can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for him and his new family!

After church this morning we grabbed a quick bite of food at home and then took the boys to their baseball game. The Royals lost a close one by one run so with 2 losses in the playoffs now and one game to go they are pretty much eliminated. All-Star season is next!

With this busy weekend I still managed to do a layout for a layout tag at Scrapshotz:

Happy Father's Day to all the dads as well!

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Quick post this morning. We have a busy day ahead of us, yard work, get the boys to batting practice and back home, wedding and reception in Canmore then home late.

I've been tagged in the layout tag at Scrapshotz and now have 24-48 hrs. to completed my layout. This will be a toughie as we have church tomorrow morning followed by a baseball game so there won't be much time to get to it this weekend. I will have to sneak in some scrapping here and there!

The Royals lost their ball game last night, they just weren't sharp so they'll try for a win tomorrow afternoon!
