Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Primrose Blossom Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 in total prizes)

Welcome here from Natasha Davies blog, I'm thrilled to join the Craft-A-Flower: Primrose Blossom Release!

The hop begins at the Altenew Card Blog so feel free to head back there at any time if you get lost along the way.

If you love this die set consider the Craft-A-Flower Monthly Subscription plan which guarantees you the monthly set at a discounted price!

CAF: Primrose Blossom

I've inked white card stock with Pink Diamond, Baby Pink, Razzleberry, Sunray, Lime, Sweet Leaf, Hunter Green and Minty Mint Crisp Dye Inks.

I used less than a full sheet of cardstock even using all these ink colors!

After gluing all the die cuts together I embossed watercolor cardstock with the the Blossoming Branches 3D Embossing Folder then added water and gave a light wash of Turquoise Watercolor Brush Marker. Once dry I added the die cuts and then some splatters with Jet Black and Desert Night Watercolor Brush Marker.

For the life of me I can not remember what hello die I used for this, I forgot to write it down, lol. A few clear drops add a nice bit of shine to the finished slimline card.

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps September Skrappy Challenge!

   Good morning krafty friends!
It's September and that means it's time for a brand new
SKRAPPY CHALLENGE

with Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

The theme of course is ANYTHING BUT A CARD!

Someone always seems to be looking for something to use for a bookmark so rather than an old receipt, I made this bookmark!

Does it look a bit familiar?

I've used the same stamp set, combination of papers and inks I used for Challenge #597-Use Brown.

When you have all the products out, why not create multiple projects for efficiency!

I've used the following Kraftin' Kimmie products:

-Lookin' Sharp

-Woodgrain Stencil

-Wonderful Waves Stencil

-Marvellous Mocha Ink

For this challenge you can make anything that strikes your fancy....except a card!
So design a new scrapbook page, bookmark, tag, altered item, planner page, art journal, ATC cards...whatever you like!

Just make sure to include some Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps products and make sure it's a new creation!  As soon as we have at least five people playing along, we'll be giving away a $10 gift voucher to the krafty shop as the monthly prize!

You have until Monday, October 4th to enter, and you can submit as many new creations as you like for more chances to WIN!  Also be sure to share your designs on the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Krafty Friends facebook page because we love to see your stuff!

Check out some more inspiration from the Krafty Team below and be inspired to get krafty!!

AECP: Level 2 Challenge Project

Hello!

Today I am sharing my final project for my Level 2 Altenew certification. The challenge was to create a 3D home decor project with a matching card or tag.

I created this folded book art decor piece.

Here is the matching birthday card.

I've admired folded book art for awhile and a couple of boxes of old books my husband brought home and this challenge was the perfect time to try it out. I knew I wanted to create a sort of book "sculpture" so an afternoon on Pinterest helped me find a fairly easy fold.

This is called "That Thursday Fold" and here is a link to the video by All In the Folds describing how to duplicate it:

I stamped these Persian Motif flowers in embossing ink on a piece of blue patterned paper from the Altenew Our Family scrapbook paper and heat embossed in gold embossing powder

They were then coloured with Altenew Artist Markers in B204, 227, 313 and G554, 702 and 715. Although the paper is not specifically formulated for colouring with alcohol markers, it held up quite nicely.

The florals were cut with the matching die and I also cut 3 pieces of white card stock for flower and stacked them on top of each with the coloured image on the top.
I added more dimension by using my flower shaping tools to curve selected areas and then adhering to the book page with foam adhesive.

The butterflies were stamped on water colour paper and heat embossed with Altenew Rose Gold embossing powder with the Painted Butterflies stamp set
They were then watercolored with Altenew Crisp Dye Ink in Frosty Pink for the pink butterfly and Buttercream and Warm Sunshine for the yellow butterfly. I also mixed in a little Altenew Iridescent spray.

I layered the butterflies over 2 stacked layers of card stock, this time adhering foam tape in between the layers on the body of the butterfly only. The wings were then curved with my flower shaping tool to add additional dimension. They were then adhered to the page with foam adhesive.

Flowers were made using the large flower die in the Whimsical Flowers set and die cutting multiple times. 6 were misted with Altenew Iridescent Shimmer Ink spray, I picked up the left over ink used to watercolour the butterflies with the remaining book page floral die cuts, then crumpled and let dry. The flowers consist of 3 layers of the book page die cuts stacked on top of each other and adhered with liquid glue. The flower centres were embellished with a Studio Katia clear drop, black onyx crystal, a fussy cut Altenew Floral Flurries (washi tape) flower and a Pretty Pink Posh crystal.

The Altenew Floral Flurries washi tape is packed full of lovely florals and they were sized perfectly for this book art project. I adhered the tape to a piece of white card stock and then fussy cut all the images.

Some of the florals were accented with a Studio Katia onyx crystal, others were attached to the pages with dimensional foam adhesive. A pair of stamped tulips from the Altenew Tulip stamp set and a large fussy cut Floral Flurries bloom are accented with Wink of Stella glitter pen and tucked into the top of the book.

Here are a couple of close ups of the book folds.

Here's what it looks like laying flat.

Now the matching card.

The card is also embellished with Pretty Pink Posh confetti sequins. Sentiment is from the Birthday Greetings stamp set.

In the following video I show you how I created the blue Persian motif flowers:

Thanks so very much for stopping in to take a look. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment!
