December Daily...the End

Here are days 23 to 25:

And this brings the Daily December 2010 edition to a close. I am so thrilled to have this completed and can't wait to put it out for the family to start paging through tomorrow. I'm going to just enjoy the book for a few days before I sit and think about what I will do differently for next year.

Thanks for visiting my December Daily!

Merry Christmas!

As I write this we have wrapped up Christmas Eve and the clock tells me it's Christmas Day but I won't acknowledge that until I get some shut eye!

One more day to go and my December Daily will be completed. Check back on the 26th for days 23 to 25 and in the meantime I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Day 22

I've finally had a chance to get this page posted. Like many of you I had to take some photos of the tree lights after reading Ali's post the other day. I had lots of fun playing around with the camera.

I added the stars to the layout and used the Roughtypewriter font from dafont.com for "merry and bright".

I spent most today running around for the last minute items, still need to find pinto beans so I'll try another spot tomorrow before I start cooking our Christmas Eve meal. I may not get around to posting Days 23 to 25 until the 26th or 27th. We'll see how it goes!

Thanks for stopping in!

Day 21

Each year we receive cards and then I just pitch them after Christmas, unless they are photo cards those go in the scrapbook. DD was the perfect place to put some cards in to along with a sample of what our family card looked like this year too!

I punched holes into the snowman card to insert in my album and then adhered another card on to the back. I think I may do the same with a couple of other cards we received and insert them in the back of the book. I have a couple of handmade ones I don't want to throw out.

This brings us one more day closer to Christmas! TFL!

Day 20

It's time to share day 20, only 5 more days until Christmas!

I used the Home bingo card to reflect that day 20 was our first official day of Winter Break.

I wondered if I would have enough photos or stories to tell every day but thankfully that hasn't been a problem. I'm so thankful for my family and my life and the opportunity to record our memories.

Happy day 20!

Project 12-November

Here is my latest Project 12 layout. I pretty much stuck to the sketch which makes it go very quickly when putting it together!

The patterned paper base is Basic Grey, the other patterned paper is Websters. Alphas are Making Memories, buttons SEI, gems Imaginese iRock; the flowers are Petaloo. I used my Sew Easy to make the holes and then green twine from The Twinery.

Day Seventeen

I had photos I was planning to use for this day but then my hubby came home and showed me these cartoons and I just had to put them in my DD. It's great to take some time to laugh during the hustle and bustle of the season.

Day Sixteen

Here is the latest instalment of December Daily.

I punched the squares from the snowy photo I took yesterday. How coincidental is it that the snow photo ending up on the page with the sleigh. I had fun with my iRock tool adhering the gems on the left side of the layout.

It's less than 10 days til Christmas now and boy have the days gone by quickly. I am looking forward to sitting down on the 25th and flipping through this album.

Day Fifteen

I've been printing out the photos for DD at home and usually I am not terribly pleased with the results. I am always adjusting them and they look great on the screen but not so great when I print. This time I decided not to adjust them in any way and the prints turned out fantastic!
I added a transparency between these pages to add a couple of more photos to this spread.

Thanks for taking a look!

Day 13 and more...

Hello and thanks in advance for dropping in to see my DD. I spent today putting together all pages from Day Six to Thirteen. I am going to post these in reverse order so just keep on scrolling if you want to see all the pages!

Day 13

There was a special on matte "photo paper" at Staples last week so I bought two packages. It seems pretty much just like cardstock so it is fantastic to journal on. All my computer generated journaling has been done in PSE so far. The photo on this layout was printed on matte paper.

Day 12

This was the first time I worked with an overlay in PSE, that's the border around the photo collage. I resized it for  a 4x6 canvas.

Day 11
I had no photos for today, just didn't get around to taking any.

Day 10
Day 9
I cut out portions of the program for this spread which worked great since my photos were less than stellar.

Day 8

Day 7
Day 6
This photo was fun because I used a Pioneer Woman PSE action for the vintage look for the vintage radio.

So that's the last 7 days and I even have day 14 finished too but you'll have to pop by tomorrow to see that one!

Stuck on Day 5...

I have photos and words for Days 6-11 but just haven't had time to put it together to post yet. I hope to be caught up tomorrow so expect a loooong post then!

December Daily - Day 5

Thanks for dropping by to see my page...

I precut some of the transparency sheets I had in my stash (I only had two) with the intention of inserting them here and there, wherever I felt like putting them. It worked great for this day as I wanted to highlight the fact that it was my birthday and include photos on both sides of the layout.
I added some rub ons and bling to the left hand page and to the transparency.
The back of the transparency has a patterned paper piece and a Jenni Bowlin sticker and SEI chipboard snowflake to cover the back of the photo. The right side includes a photo (taken with my new birthday present) in addition to the journaling.

I have already decided what I want to do for my Day 6 entry but it's now too dark to take the photo so it won't be posted until tomorrow.

Here is a layout I completed last night:
I used supplies from a Studio Calico kit, love the star stamp and the journaling stamp too!

...Party like it's your Birthday...

It's my birthday today and my wonderful husband COMPLETELY surprised me with a brand spankin' new Canon 60D camera!!

I've snapped a few photos with the new camera but will have to read the manual in it's entirety and practice, practice, practice. So I probably won't get todays page completed today so be on the lookout for two pages tomorrow, or the day after!

Thanks for dropping in!

Day 3 and 4

Maybe I should stop blogging that I am not going to blog my latest December Daily pages due to a lack of time, or just keep that going since I've been able to put them together and post them right after posting that since, hmmmm, go figure!!

Here is December 3, 2010:

The top page is the left hand side of the double page spread. This was my first attempt at putting text over my photo. Lesson learned, not the best background colours to do this with and so the journaling is tough to read and it's a bit small. This is what it says:

'The tree is up, the lights are on and the decorations are out of the storage room. Cole saw these bins and started jumping up and down saying, "Toys, Cole, toys, Cole." "No Cole, these are not toys for you, these are decorations for the tree. Come and eat your lunch now." I said. I am so thankful to be a stay at home mom to experience these moments.'

December 4, 2010
I added the punched red border strips on the left hand side, my new Martha Stewart punch-sorry I don't know what it's called, I tossed the packaging right away and I'm having trouble locating it on the net right now. The right side of the lo is a photo of ds#3 playing and my Christmas card photo, the colour is a bit off but I think you get the idea of it!

See you Monday!!(tomorrow is my birthday so I'm planning on a day of no tasks :) )

Thanks for looking!

December Daily 3 & 4

Well I ended up in a marathon 5 hour meeting today so no time for DD today!

I'll catch up tomorrow!

Daily December, Day Two...

I had planned on posting this tomorrow when I would have good light to get a good photo but since I just put the lights on the tree today I was liking the idea of photographing Day Two within the branches of the tree surrounded by the lights. It turned out okay, click on the photo to see a larger version!

Like Day One I made a photo collage on a 4x6 canvas. The patterned is an Echo Park digital pp I sized to fit between the photos. I added some cb accents from SEI, journaling, and voila, day two is done!

Thanks for dropping in!

Tune In Tomorrow...

For December Daily Day 2 and 3...Day 2 is done but I will photograph it tomorrow when the sun is back up and hopefully have Day 3 completed as well.

So far I find myself thinking about what story I want to tell today. I am thinking beyond the operating details of the day but I'm sure there will be days when the mundane details of the day are the story itself because they are real life, a part of the month. December isn't all happiness, generosity and warm, fuzzy feelings even though it's the holiday season. We've still had homework struggles, 2 year old meltdowns, sibling fights and, "just breathe and let it go" moments and that's just in the first 3 days! I'm going to choose to focus on the positive moments. Hopefully my DD will reflect that!

December 1,2010

Here is my first December Daily page, I am pleased with how it turned out although I wish hadn't used my Cranberry Glimmer Mist on the tags, it clashes with the red cs but in the interests of letting go of perfection,  I am not going to change it.

I resized four photos to 3" wide by 2" high and placed them on one 4x6 photo canvas. Since my album is only 6x6, this will probably be the best way to incorporate more photos on a page and I was limited on my first page as I spelled out "one" diagonally across the page.

I want to include something I or the someone in my family is thankful for but I haven't decided the best way to do this. On this page is was a natural extension of the journaling but I don't know if that will work for each day, I'll have to figure that out as I go along!

Only Two More Sleeps...

Until December Daily begins!!!

I am so looking forward to this. I hope to involve the entire family in this project, especially with the gratitude aspect. It's so easy, for kids especially, to focus on the the gifts and getting stuff at Christmas so I want this project to have an aspect of thankfulness that I'll document. I feel far more organized and ready to go for DD this year than I was last year. Here is my title page just completed today:

Project 12-October

Hello!

Click HERE if you've dropped by to see my December Daily and thanks for looking!

I am so late with the layout but thrilled with how it turned out! Sorry for the slight glare on one of the photos.

I've used the Basic Grey basics as the base for this. I had to stick with neutral colours since I had so many different colours going on in the photos. The alphas, epoxy stickers, chipboard buttons and bling are all items that have been hanging around my stash for awhile as well as the patterned paper along the bottom.

Now to get after November's sketch, the month is almost over already!

Brrrrrrr....

Hello! If you've dropped in to view my December Daily, just scroll down a bit to get to it!

We have been in a deep freeze the last few days and today has been the coldest yet and we are only at the beginning of winter, oh well, it is Canada! The thermometer dipped to -31 C with the wind chill for the kids bus ride to school and by Friday we are looking at +1 C. Yes that is common in this part of Canada!

We did brave the elements to go to our local Canadian Football League game, the Calgary Stampeders matching up against the Saskatchewan Roughriders for a spot in the Grey Cup final in Edmonton. It was
-23c with the windchill at kickoff. The Grey Cup has been contested for almost 100 years and this years version is the 98th. The home team (Calgary) lost so it's a rematch against Montreal. It got me thinking about the last time a team won back to back Grey Cups so thanks to Google I found out that the Toronto Argonauts were the last team to win the Cup two years running in 1996 & 1997. The game takes place this coming Sunday and I and my family will be fervently cheering for the Alouettes!!! Go Montreal Go!!

In between shopping for thermal underwear and keeping the kids entertained indoors, I completed a few projects and here are a couple.

Ooops, it's a pretty small image, sorry about that.

It's hard to see on the double page layout but I used my iRock to adhere a border of glam rocks exactly like the ones on the card. I've been having so much fun playing with the tool!

Thanks for looking!

It's Winter Alright

Well winter has arrived with a vengence, not only have we had lots of snow, it is also very cold with temps at -16 and below (celsius). It sure feels like it's time to put up the Christmas decorations and Ray and I hit the mall today to take care of the Christmas shopping along with a bunch of other people judging by the traffic in the mall.

Anyways, here is the view on my deck yesterday morning and this snow had been falling since Monday evening:

so with the cold and snow I was very motivated to work on this:
it's our family christmas card photo. Can you see my Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet in the foreground? Wow that is SO much fun to use! I made a couple of samples and enlisted my talented friend Heather to decide on which one to use so stay tuned for the product!

December Daily Ready to Go!

Well I had a very productive weekend completing the foundation pages for Ali Edwards' December Daily project. Thanks to Ali's organizational tips from last year, all my Christmas items were already pulled together in a plastic bin so I was ready to go in mere minutes. I decided to use a 6x6 American Crafts album. Sounds small I know but I want to keep this fairly simple as that will keep me motivated to work on this daily. I still have a title page to do and I did have a little hiccup along the way, let me know if you notice what it is, I didn't catch it until I starting photographing the pages to post. So I decided to dedicate two facing pages per day, one page for journaling, receipts, etc. and the other for photos however I can also easily add another page in between if I need more space for journaling or photos.

All cardstock used for this project is Bazzil unless otherwise noted.
Pattern papers are My Minds Eyes and the leftovers from my Scrapshotz December kit (SEI-Alpine Frost) from last year, nice to finish them up. Chipboard is by DCWV, SEI and Tattered Angels. Red mist is Maya Road all other mist used is Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels. Numerals are Thickers, MM, Doodlebug, Heidi Swapp and Jenni Bowlin. I've also used various accents from Making Memories and Petaloo along with masks from Tattered Angels.

So that's it, 25 pages ready to go. Can't wait for December now!
